PlayCore Awarded Corporate Philanthropist of the Year

PlayCore has been named by the Chattanooga Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) as the 2009 Corporate Philanthropist of the Year.

The organization recognizes two individuals and one corporation annually that demonstrate a breadth and depth of philanthropic activity over a sustained period of time and have made a substantial difference for the Chattanooga community. PlayCore was honored at the National Philanthropy Day awards luncheon on Nov. 4 in Chattanooga, TN, where the company was presented with a sculpture representing philanthropic spirit created by local artist Cessna Decosimo.

As a leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of a broad range of commercial and consumer playground and park equipment, surfacing, site amenity, fitness and related products and programs, PlayCore believes in enhancing the quality of life in the communities where their employees live, work, and play. The company believes in corporate and employee giving, which is exemplified through the Employee Days of Caring events, corporate match programs and other community volunteer efforts initiated by employees as the company strives to be an exceptional corporate citizen.

Lisa Moore, vice president of Corporate Strategic Services, said, “Our employees are very active in their communities and we are proud of their spirit of giving as we work together to make a difference in our communities and beyond.”

The company supports volunteering through the Employee Giving Program to include the six primary locations through the Days of Caring program that enables employees to participate in service projects for select charities that help make a difference in their communities. Through this program, PlayCore employees volunteered in 2009 to install playground structures, refurbish playgrounds, manufacture and install an indoor traverse climbing wall, plant a vegetable garden, install and top off playground safety surfacing, donate water bottles and provide maintenance to a therapeutic horseback riding facility.
