“Big Heart” For Reconstruction Of Playgrounds In State Kindergartens

Eurobank EFG and the Foundation Ana & Vlade Divac recently presented the new “Big Heart” affinity credit card, under the auspices of the Serbian Ministry of Education.

The ordinary use of this unique MasterCard credit card issued by Eurobank EFG in affiliation with the Foundation Ana & Vlade Divac provides the bank’s clients with the opportunity to support the refurbishment of children playgrounds in state kindergartens throughout Serbia—without incurring any additional costs. Thus it will bring to many children the improved quality of life they all deserve but not always have access to.

Every time a customer uses his/her “Big Heart” Credit Card for any type of transaction (including purchases and cash withdrawals) the bank will contribute to the fund 1 percent of the value of the transaction and 50 percent of the monthly administration fees. The money collected will be used for the purpose of refurbishing children playgrounds in Serbian state owned kindergarten.

Eurobank EFG`s clients, who will choose the New “Big Heart” MasterCard, will not bear any additional expenses and will be able to use it as any other standard credit card. The more clients use the “Big Heart” MasterCard, the more support for better childhood is provided. The amount collected by Eurobank EFG will be regularly transferred to the Foundation Ana & Vlade Divac (HOD) and cardholders will be informed periodically in detail about how these donations were used.

The selection of kindergartens to which the funds will be allocated will be made by a special committee comprised of representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Foundation Ana & Vlade Divac and Eurobank EFG. Eligible candidates are all state-owned kindergartens across Serbia, with children’s playgrounds as part of their premises. Playgrounds refurbished in this manner aim at proper development of children through the organization of sports competitions as well as through the social inclusion of children with disability.

“Eurobank EFG is recognized in Serbia as a financial institution with an extensive Corporate Social Responsibility program through which it has supported significantly local communities,” Philippos Karamanolis, president of the Executive Board of Eurobank EFG, said. “This time we are very pleased to link the standard use and features of a credit card product with the realization of a social goal—the refurbishment of playgrounds in state-owned kindergartens throughout Serbia. During the implementation of another very important community project—the “Eurobank EFG Parks”—we noticed that many kindergarten playgrounds were in urgent need of maintenance or upgrading. With the new affinity card, we would like to improve their condition and offer Serbia’s children a better and safer place to play.”

Vlade Divac, whose organization HOD is a partner in this project, stated “We are very pleased to have the exclusive opportunity to start this unique project with one of the leading banks in Serbia—Eurobank EFG, already recognized in Serbia as a leader in social responsible behaviour and corporate philanthropy.

“This project will enable us to improve conditions in many kinder gardens across Serbia and by doing that we will improve the quality of life and safety of our children as well as their proper development through play. I would urge all people that use credit cards in their everyday life and are concerned with improving the future of our country, our children, to acquire and use this card as much as possible. Every little bit helps and every transaction no matter how small or large allows us to collect more funds for our worthy cause. Playgrounds are very important for the physical development of children and I am telling you that by experience. Therefore by investing in their refurbishment we are investing in our children’s future.”
